Gulf Shores- Day 6

On Day 6 we got up and went to visit Ft. Morgan.  It was SO cool :)  We all love history and being right there in the middle of it is especially neat.  Of course both boys were enthralled with all the canons, talk of guns, etc.. :)  Ft. Morgan was to protect the Mobile Bay.  It was built during the Civil War era.

They were shooting their "guns" out the window where there used to be guns mounted.
Pictures just don't do it justice

I love that B can read the signs and information now :)
Looking out over Mobile Bay

This is the tunnel that leads into the Fort

We stayed at the fort all morning exploring and running around.  B chose a souvenir from the museum (another toy canon, lol).  Corbin fell asleep on our way back to the condo so we ate a quick lunch and Ryan stayed and let him sleep while B and I went to the pool for a couple hours.  Then we packed up and headed to the beach :)
Right when we got there some dolphins were putting on a show for us :)
This is the best picture I could get, but they were so pretty.

That night we went to Tacky Jack's 2 at the Ft. Morgan marina.  The boys enjoyed watching the boats coming in and the view was very pretty.

C was too tired for a picture :) lol

Our view at dinner

Corbin was cracking us up!

After dinner we went and took some beach pictures :) I'll share those later!

Gulf Shores- Day 5

We got up and loafed around a bit that morning and then went to play putt-putt.  It worked out well that we were the only people there b/c we could let Corbin play too :).  It was his first time and he loved it!  B is actually pretty good! I beat Ryan for once and he couldn't believe it! haha!
B & C with their putters and golf balls
(Corbin ended up losing his ball in a bush right at the end-- oops!).

After our game of putt-putt we went back and ate an early lunch and went to the pool again.

The boys had so much fun splashing each other and pulling each other on the boogie board etc... I love that they are little fish.  Corbin was in good spirits all afternoon so we skipped nap time and let him keep swimming- although Ryan never minded taking Corbin back for a nap, haha!

That evening we went to Lambert's for supper-- all I can say is YUM!  Amazing food and a TON of it!  Corbin slept through half of our meal b/c he fell asleep on the way and just wouldn't wake up. He was so worn out.  Once he woke up though he thought the goofy people were hilarious.  B loved it too and tried some new things (that's always nice to get them to try new things!).

Gulf Shores- Days 3 & 4

Well, apparently on day 3 I was so into vacation mode that I didn't even get out the camera!  I can tell you what we did though b/c I wrote it down in the planner (yes, I'm a nerd).  We got up that morning and went to the indoor pool for a couple hours.  We then cleaned up and headed north to Foley to the outlets :)  It rained a huge rain while we were there (only about 15 min and we stayed put in a store so it didn't bother us!).  I got a dress for Jordan's upcoming wedding and B found a Puma backpack for only $12.00 (SCORE!).  I got a few other odds and ends, but we mostly browsed.  We ate some Chinese food for lunch and then got some ice cream before heading back.  When we got back we went to the pool.  We stayed late at the pool and weren't too hungry so we had a quick supper at Hooter's.  Let me just say that taking a 7 yr. old boy to Hooter's probably wasn't the best idea!  I didn't even think about it, but when he quietly asked why our waitress was only wearing her underwear I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!

On Day 4 we got up that morning and went to the zoo.  It was so interactive and the boys loved it.

The kangaroos were so neat!

Corbin loved feeding the goats and kept wanting to go back to the goats!
We are actually getting two goats at the end of June for B's 4H project and b/c Ryan wants some to clean up the woods lol (they are still with their momma right now) so we thought that was hilarious that he loved them so much.

This is out of order but they were watching the crazy fast kangaroos

I thought this was a cute little guy
Massive (his name was Chuckie and he escaped during Hurricane Ivan in '04, but was found!).
Feeding the goats again!
 This bear was very playful!
And this one was very lazy!

After the zoo we grabbed a quick lunch and went back and went to the pool.  Corbin got tired pretty fast so Ryan took him back to the condo for a nap and B and I stayed all afternoon.

That night we went to King Neptune's for supper- I thought it was amazing!
The boys sharing a zebra cake in their jammies and watching a movie.
Corbin loves to color :)
Showing me this one is "boom" aka blue :)

Gulf Shores- Days 1 & 2

We were on vacation last week- I wish we were still there!  We went to Gulf Shores, Alabama.  We actually stayed between Gulf Shores and Ft. Morgan so we were out a little ways (and loved it there).  We left on Friday, May 4th when Ryan got home from work.  We drove past Nashville a little ways and got a hotel room for the night.
The boys on the way--- Corbin insisted having his "pet" in his seat like bubby had his pillow lol!

We slept in awhile on Saturday morning and then got up and went and ate breakfast at a Waffle House there by our hotel.  While we were in there it started pouring rain. I was dreading getting soaked and then riding for a long period of time (we were parked all the way across the parking lot!).  When we went out a man was walking in with a huge umbrella- he offered to walk us to our vehicle (and even stood there while we got Corbin strapped into his car seat!).  I just felt like he was a little angel sent to us by God-- who cares about our littlest need (and probably knew a soaking wet family on a long drive was not going to be a happy family!).  I can't say that I would of been nearly as nice as that man and shows me I have a long way to go on being selfless!

The boys did great on the ride and we were there before we knew it.  We stopped at Walmart before we headed to our condo which was about 10-15 min. out of town.  We got there just a little after check-in time so it worked out perfect!  We unpacked our groceries and then headed to sink our toes in the sand for a awhile and let the boys run some energy off!
Walking out to the beach :)
Corbin has learned to smile on command (finally), but his face cracks me up!
B was ready to just jump in- clothes and all.

That night we just went and looked around the resort area and checked out the pools and all the amenities and made ourselves familiar.  We had supper at a little restaurant there.
The boys were ready for bed pretty early so I finished unpacking all of our stuff and Ryan and I just hung out.

The next morning we ran into town and looked at some shops and picked up a few more things we had thought of.

Being goofy in a store

We got back and headed straight to the beach for the day.  We were beach bums all day and loved every second of it.
Corbin lovessss the sand and the beach!
B loves the ocean and spent most of our trip with this net getting shells out of the ocean.
He had a blast (and we came home with entirely too many shells!).
Corbin played and played and played with his truck and the shovels.
Another "cheese" :)
It worked out perfect b/c Ryan can't sit still at the beach so he loved shell hunting with B and I love to sit and read and just listen to the ocean and so I hung out with Corbin in the sand.
I can't say that Corbin has ever been SO CONTENT to sit and play as he was at the beach!

I told B this looks like a Baywatch picture- he had no idea what that was though, lol!
He had to have a juice break of course :)

B did take some time out to dig a hole-- Corbin thought putting sand down brother's pants would be fun (he did that all on his own and we were just cracking up at him!).
Thankfully his big brother is a good sport about things like that!
B dug a hole and then Corbin took over it lol
Showing off a shell he found
C really enjoyed jumping in the hole!

Then B wanted buried so momma got to work and we buried him :)

C thought he needed to be too (so B and I covered him up a bit and he was satisfied!).

We stayed at the beach until time to go take showers and get ready for supper.

We went to the Oyster House/boardwalk for supper-- it was yummy!  With B's fish allergy eating seafood was challenging- we had to make sure they had things he could eat (and that the chicken wasn't fried in the same grease as the fish)...  It worked out every night though!

More to come!
