Crazy Boys

Olivia came to stay with us Tuesday night and cut all the boys' hair & highlight/cut mine.

Before she cut Brycen's he wanted a "hair hawk" (aka- mohawk) and blue hair.

She brought some washable gel and put it in the hair hawk- he thought he was super cool :) lol

Now let's hope he doesn't want this for real in 10 years! lol

Last night we put Corbin down for bed.

Normally, he goes right to sleep and is perfectly quiet...

last night we heard him banging around his crib- after awhile I went to check on him...

and found him shirtless!

When we put on his pj's he started feeling the long sleeves of his shirt (we've been putting short sleeves on him at night).

I didn't think anything of it and he went on playing before bedtime like nothing bothered him... but apparently he doesn't like long sleeves and wanted it off!

Crazy boys!

Snake

Sunday this creature found his way into our garage (yuck!). Now, I'm not a fan of snakes, but I'm not terrified of them as long as I see them from a distance first. Ryan on the other hand. Absolutely.terrified. It's so funny. He wouldn't walk across the garage to get the hoe- so I did. bahaha! There was a bag of insulation in front of the snake that we had to move....

My uncle showed up to pick some clothes up that I was giving to my little cousin- he saved the day and killed the snake :)

yuck!

It was pretty big...

We had a bigger one on our front porch a couple weeks ago.

I think it's due to the brush in front of the house that needs cleaned up still...

hopefully, when that gets taken care of we won't have so many... hopefully?!

Brycen loved the snake and wanted to touch it.... which he did. Ewww!
Thankfully, they are just harmless black snakes, but I'm hoping one doesn't surprise me anytime soon!

Skyla & Luke's wedding

I'm a strange girl and I'm not a fan of weddings for some reason. BUT I have to say last Saturday I had a blast at my baby sister's (friend since 1st grade/her in kindergarten) wedding. Her mom is "Nana" to my boys, she is "Aunt Skye", her niece Mabry, is B's best friend, etc... I did the guest book and programs so I had to be there early so I got to hug on Skye beforehand. We also love her hubby, Luke (aka- Lukie Poo) lol. B had been counting down the days until this wedding because he couldn't wait to dance and hang out with his buddies :)

B & Kennedy after the wedding service

We joked that we might as well go back inside and get these two over with :) lol

Getting down!

We all had a blast (and were still home before 10pm). :)

They also had a photobooth at the wedding that we all had fun with- so if you have me on facebook you should check out those pictures because they are tagged on there! They are so funny!

Baseball (5/19/11)

Getting ready before the game started
Waiting for some action :)

Awesome Hit!

This boy's Dad brags and brags on him (which isn't really common) on how well he is doing in baseball this year! He hits it to the out field about every time AND Ryan is always commenting on how strong his arm is and "what a throw" he has!
Baseball is Ryan's thing and I'm so glad they share this love.

Climb On In

This little monkey is ALWAYS doing something he isn't supposed to be doing! He has learned he can take the vents out (which is one thing), but then he CLIMBS IN... likes tries to get down in the vent! Oh my! We have our hands full, but I wouldn't want it any other way- he never fails to crack us up with his antics!

((Poor picture quality on the last three posts, b/c I've been too lazy to get my real camera out and I've snapped pictures with my phone. I really should try harder to use my real camera!)).

Braggy

"The Goat yoost (used) the hammer."

I love when B brings home papers like this!

They had to draw a picture of a goat (that was in their story) and then make up a sentence about what the goat was doing.

This year Brycen's learning has sped along at a super fast pace. I'm constantly amazed by his abilities to learn something so fast. And once he catches on there is no going back.

His love for reading makes my heart smile. I've encouraged it all along, but you never know if it will stick or not, but so far with him it has.

He begs to buy books at the book fair/book orders (this week is buy one get one free and he has been counting the days until he got to go pick out new books!).

It's not that he NEEDS new books, but if that will encourage him to keep reading then I'll buy all the books he wants!

I have said before I love love love to read and I feel that it always gave me an advantage in school.

I still feel that it helps keep my brain "up to par".

Even when I read an easy read I'm still using my brain instead of sitting in front of a mindless tv show. (now that I never watch tv, but I would rather read!).

Anyway, I'm just so happy that he loves to read so much and his skills have come so far this year!

Last night I walked into his room to tell him supper was ready and he was sitting on his bed reading a book :)

He has a walk-in closet and that is where I have his bookshelves with most of his books and he curls up in the corner of his closet with his blanket and pillow pet and reads.

I remember doing that same thing! :)

Our school does testing (computerized- graded by national averages) 4 times a year. Brycen just brought home his end of the year testing scores and WOW- I'm so proud of him! (Honestly, I'd be proud of him if he scores were below average and that's all he could do if he was trying his best). But, seriously, his scores knocked my socks off! I'm not a "braggy" mom or at least I try not to be, but I'm so proud of him and his accomplishments this year and I want to put them on the blog so they'll be included in our memories :)

B is too funny because if you ask him if he likes school he will say NO!

But then if he has to miss a day he will be very upset about it!

I can't believe I'm about to have a first-grader on my hands!

Weekend

Meet the newest addition to our family- Smokey.

We have known for about 2 months that we're going to get this sweet little kitty and have been waiting to pick him up. His brothers and sisters got in an accident (aka- got ate by the family's dog). We already had claimed we wanted "the gray one" and were super happy Mr. Smokey survived the accident! We got him from a girl I went to school with- she has a little boy that is a year older than B and he was sad when we met them to pick up the kitty. He had already started calling him Smokey and B thought that was a good name so we kept it.

He's not an inside cat, but he's so little and we didn't want him running away so we kept him inside most of the wk/end while we were home. He's so sweet.

He slept in the garage and stayed there while we weren't home.
We made him a bed in there, but he preferred to curl up on top of Ryan's golf bag :)

Both boys are in love with him.

B keep saying, "I can't believe I finally got a kitten!" :)

Corbin has now started saying kitty- which is too cute!

He pets him sooo soft, but then can get a little rough b/c he gets so excited!

I can't really say that we are "cat people", but this little guy is so cute that even Ryan likes him :)

After all the times I posted last week about Corbin testing us so much and how much of a temper he had been having God must of heard me praying because Corbin was an absolute delight from Friday when I picked him up at the sitter through the whole wk/end!

I can't remember one fit that he threw actually! He had to stay up past his bedtime on Friday b/c we ran to Princeton to WalMart and to eat and he was just the HAPPIEST little guy ever. It made our evening so enjoyable! I thought it had to be a fluke, but Saturday and Sunday were more of the same.
I'm sure we're not over the temper tantrum stage or his attitude, but I'm very thankful for a weekend of peace and family time!

Brycen had his first 4H meeting Saturday morning. It was raining so they couldn't do all the activities they had planned, but he still had fun I think. He is excited about his projects that he is going to do. We aren't going to start them until we get home from vacation though- then he'll have a month to complete them which should be plenty of time.

I'm thankful for the nice relaxing weekend we just had because between now and vacation we are busy bees!

15 Month Stats

Yesterday we went to Corbin's 15 month check up. I want to put this down for my memory! He weighed 24lbs 2oz (right below 50th %) and was 32 1/4 inches long (75th%).

Dr. K says that he is doing great and that his tantrums are very normal for this age (that was good to hear form the dr.). He said he advises that as long as he's safe (not going to hurt himself on something) just to ignore him because at this age any attention makes them think "heyy mom thinks this is cool". Well, Momma does not think tantrums are cool (throwing yourself on the floor kicking and screaming isn't really fun for momma) so we're going to try ignoring you and pray they go away!

Corbin is so funny- like I said before some people he could care less about and other people he seems to love, well Dr. K stood up and and Corbin lifted his arms and wanted him to pick him up! It was pretty funny since I had just got done saying that he's not a huge people person.

I knew he was doing well, but it's always nice to be reassured by the dr. :)

Muddy Mother's Day

Sunday afternoon after church and after Corbin's nap the boys played outside in the mud. It was a perfect.day.

I don't even have pictures of them at their muddiest because I was too busy hosing them down (literally). They rolled in the mud. B said they were taking a mud bath like the pigs do to stay cool :). I had to hose them off before they could go inside to take their bath. The extra messes for me to clean are worth their smiles and B's stories! I'm a girl who likes things CLEAN... maybe too clean, but I don't want to hinder their fun because of my need for clean so I'm letting them run around like wild indians and be as dirty as possible and cleaning like a mad woman after they go to bed because I know these times aren't going to last too long. These boys are such a precious gift, on loan to Ryan and I, from Our Heavenly Father. He gave us these little boys to foster their personalities and bring them up in the Lord's way. I'm trying so hard to do that even though I know I fail every day at something I'm sure trying. I want to be an encouragment to them whether that is encouraging them to have fun in the mud or encouraging them to do the right thing on the playground when everyone else isn't.

This post got a little deep and I didn't mean for it to, but I know that at times I can be such a serious person and I need to let loose and have a little more fun so for my boys I'm trying to let them have that in their personality. :)

Bubbles

B has been trying and trying (for like a year) to blow bubbles with his gum. He finally accomplished this task last week! He was sooo excited :)

The first night he learned to blow bubbles!

Being the goofy boy he is :)

He can always make us smile!

Muffins for Momma

Friday afternoon B's teacher had "Muffins for Mommy" (aka Muffins for Momma"). :) B has been so excited and I couldn't wait. I have said time and time again that he has the greatest teacher. She just goes above and beyond on everything. I never have a doubt that she cares about my baby. I just can't say enough good things about her (and not just b/c she made me a chocolate chip muffin either)! They did a little program for us with songs and poems and then we painted a vase/pencil holder together and had muffins/juice/water/fruit salad. It was such a fun time and one I'll cherish for years to come.

Brycen saying his part of a poem, "I'm sorry for the messes I always seem to make" (bahaha, it fit perfectly)... it was about muddy handprints down the hall and everywhere!

M O M M Y (sung to the tune of BINGO)

Blowing kisses during a song :)

They had made us a garden stone and could decorate it how they wanted he made a "C" because that's what my name starts with :)
His teacher said he came up with it first thing and was very protective over his idea!
I thought it was fitting considering we call them B & C (yes, we do actually call them that in real life too) lol.

B & "his girl" Kennedy :)

These two were blowing kisses and being crazy the whole time.

Wow! They crack me up!

15 Months

Corbin is 15 months today. He's not a baby anymore, but he's not really a toddler either. Mr. Corbin has a VERY big attitude. He tests us A LOT. He screams at the top of his lungs... he doesn't really cry, but has a "whine cry" that he can turn off and on in an instant! Now, don't get me wrong- we love him very much and still have tons of fun with him, but you just never know how he's going to act! All I remember of B at this age was him being very loving! Corbin is such a rough neck! He can be so sweet one minute and throwing his toy across the room at you the next! I keep telling myself it's just a stage! What do you other momma's do to discipline a 15 month old for hitting, throwing toys, etc? He doesn't like to be told no, but it seems to be his favorite word to say!

We go on Wednesday for his check up on weight and height... He's thinned out a lot and is still tall. I'm anxious to see his stats.

He's saying quite a few words (when he wants to!) and I love hearing his little voice. The other night on the way home B was singing "Who Let the Dogs Out" and Corbin was saying "Rrrfff" it was sooo funny! Speaking of dogs- he LOVES them!!! He gets so excited he starts panting when he sees them! The neighbor dogs are at our house all the time and C stands at the window and bangs at them if we are inside!

I think one reason Corbin is so rough is due to playing with B so much. Those two crack me up! Yesterday they were rolling in the mud like pigs! Literally.

Corbin has one speed and it's "fast" all the time! He always has numerous bruises and bumps because he just doesn't slow down! He'll fall going full speed and get back up again running as if he didn't phase him!

He cracks us up with his quirky ways. Around some people he can be sooo serious and not smile one bit, but other people he is as outgoing as they come! He has a big cheesey smile where he squints his eyes- it's so funny! He tilts his head back and puts his arms out but the arms are always touching at the elbow part- it just looks hilarious!

He loves bathtime, but screams when it's time to get out (screams like you're hurting him!). He doesn't hold still to get lotion on or a diaper change or his clothes. He hates getting his shoes put on, but brings them to us all the time and wants to go "bye".

He is an outside boy! He's happy as long as he's outside! Once again- when you bring him inside he screams as if you're hurting him (like the shrillest scream that makes your ears ring).

He's going through a phase of only eating what he wants to eat and when he wants to eat... sometimes I think he has to be starving because he just won't eat! He def. only wants to feed himself and will hit away any spood on fork we try to put in his mouth causing yogurt, applesauce, ptoatoes, etc to go flying everywhere. What a mess! When he does decide to eat though he will eat more than me!

He loves my big round brush and stands in front of my long mirror and pretends to brush his hair :) If asked to bring something specific like a shoe, diaper, certain toy, drink, etc. He will bring them.

I'm sure there are lots of things I'm leaving out about our little man and I don't want to make him sound like a total bratty baby because he's not, BUT that just seems to be what he is doing to test us right now and what we're struggling with with him. We love him so much, screaming fits and all (although, if those go away soon I'd jump for joy!) :)

Opening Day 2011

Saturday was our Little League opening day! Usually, every year for as far back as I can remember it rains on opening day... this year it would not of been a surprise to have rain due to the floods (literally) we've been having! BUT God is Good and we had a gorgeous sunshiney and warm day (Let me say that He still would of been good even if it did rain, but I'm just so thankful he opened up the sky and let us have some sunshine!). Anyway, sorry I got a little off track!

Our little league parade started at 11am. Then opening ceremony. Have I mentioned I love tradition?! I do. I love standing there thinking how none of this has really changed in the past 20 years since I started playing on those very same fields! I love my kids are getting those same experiences that I cherish the memories of! We were the third game after opening ceremonies. The bad part of opening day is you never know what time you will be playing since there aren't set times for the games!

We grabbed some lunch and Corbin took a quick (too quick!) nap and we chatted with people around the ball field before our game began. I didn't get to see too much of the game (due to the little one only having a ten minute nap!)... He was a wild little thing! He did hang on to the fence and yell "DADDDAAAA and BUBBBBBBBAAAAA" shaking the fence while daddy and bubby were out on the field! It was too cute :)

Ryan and B walking in the parade :)

B loves having his daddy coach!
(Another tradition, since my dad was always my coach!).
Corbin Fisher and Jessa at opening ceremony.
His face is crackin' me up!

B and Mabes

*best friends*

Both are number 8!!

Ty man and B :)
Best friends like their mommas!

Sitting in his chair acting crazy!

Don't let this fool ya, he sat for aprx. 1 minute! lol

We're supposed to have another game tomorrow evening, but I don't see that happening!

Our school is out today due to flooding over most of our main highways and tons of our county roads. It's crazy! B will now be missing the last four days of school since that will make us go until June 7th and we leave on vacation June 2nd! I don't know how they will go tomorrow either because we're supposed to get two more inches today! Yikes!
