Braggy

"The Goat yoost (used) the hammer."

I love when B brings home papers like this!

They had to draw a picture of a goat (that was in their story) and then make up a sentence about what the goat was doing.

This year Brycen's learning has sped along at a super fast pace. I'm constantly amazed by his abilities to learn something so fast. And once he catches on there is no going back.

His love for reading makes my heart smile. I've encouraged it all along, but you never know if it will stick or not, but so far with him it has.

He begs to buy books at the book fair/book orders (this week is buy one get one free and he has been counting the days until he got to go pick out new books!).

It's not that he NEEDS new books, but if that will encourage him to keep reading then I'll buy all the books he wants!

I have said before I love love love to read and I feel that it always gave me an advantage in school.

I still feel that it helps keep my brain "up to par".

Even when I read an easy read I'm still using my brain instead of sitting in front of a mindless tv show. (now that I never watch tv, but I would rather read!).

Anyway, I'm just so happy that he loves to read so much and his skills have come so far this year!

Last night I walked into his room to tell him supper was ready and he was sitting on his bed reading a book :)

He has a walk-in closet and that is where I have his bookshelves with most of his books and he curls up in the corner of his closet with his blanket and pillow pet and reads.

I remember doing that same thing! :)

Our school does testing (computerized- graded by national averages) 4 times a year. Brycen just brought home his end of the year testing scores and WOW- I'm so proud of him! (Honestly, I'd be proud of him if he scores were below average and that's all he could do if he was trying his best). But, seriously, his scores knocked my socks off! I'm not a "braggy" mom or at least I try not to be, but I'm so proud of him and his accomplishments this year and I want to put them on the blog so they'll be included in our memories :)

B is too funny because if you ask him if he likes school he will say NO!

But then if he has to miss a day he will be very upset about it!

I can't believe I'm about to have a first-grader on my hands!

You go on and brag, Mom! Good for you and B. Being a good reader/ learner/ student will take him far in life. It is great that you encourage that. Take care! XOXO
